Lampwork, an ancient craft, involves forming glass beads by melting glass rods in a torch or flame and winding the molten glass around a metal rod or mandrel to form a bead.
Once the basic bead is formed, the surface can be decorated by adding various embellishments using the same or different colors of molten glass.
The finished beads are annealed in a kiln to remove any stress in the glass and to stabilize the bead.
